Unconditional Love, Bred by Paul Barden, 2006

Unconditional LoveBreeding: 'Sequoia Ruby' X 'Scarlet Moss'.

This rose was named to honor the bond we humans have with the animals we keep as pets.

This is by far the best miniature rose from my breeding program to date. It is very vigorous, building up into a mature plant very quickly. It flowers with great freedom and abundance. The rich medium red coloring lasts until the petals drop, which they do cleanly. As you can see from the photos, the bloom form is very much like an Old Garden Rose, often showing a bit of a button eye at the center. Individual blooms are 1.5 inches across, sometimes less, and are borne in clusters of 3 to 15. The foliage is very glossy and a bright medium green. The overall impression of the plant is one of clean, bright color and health. In some climates spraying may be necessary to prevent Blackspot.

ARS merit rating: NA
Personal merit rating: 9.0
Hardiness: Likely USDA zones 6 through 10, protect from cold in Winter climates.
Shrub size: approximately 18" tall
Fragrance: 0.5,
some fragrance from mossing
