Choosing good passwords

Note: Password security is important. While you may not care who looks at your email and may not have any files on the system that you care about, if someone cracks your account, they will probably use it as a base to do mischief, if not actual damage, to this system and others. You are responsible for how your account is used, so choose good passwords. This interface enforces some basics: minimum 6 characters, max 128 (8-10 is probably good enough) and at least one each of alpha, numeric and punctuation characters. A good way to generate a password is to think of some easily remembered phrase and then use the initials with some slight modification, for example:

Four score and seven years ago, our forefathers...
could be used to make this password:
4sa7Ya,of
It looks totally random and would not be guessed by any of the password cracking programs out there, but is easy to remember. And remember:

Never use examples for passwords!

Microsoft actually has a good password checker page to check the quality of your password...

...and finally, remember that passwords on Agora at RainDrop Laboratories are one-way encrypted, so I cannot recover them. At best, I can reset it to a known temporary password and then you can change it to something secure after. With all the different passwords needed around the net these days, your best bet is to get a password manager like SplashID.
