Some recommended books for new users (and old users wanting to expand their horizons) are "UNIX Communications" by The Waite Group, "Learning Unix" and "Learning Vi". The latter two are members of the Nutshell Handbook series published by O'Reilly and Associates. I strongly recommend that new users unfamiliar with Unix get at least "Learning Unix" and "Learning Vi". The former is a small and simple, but very good, introduction to using a Unix system, and the latter shows you how to use the system default editor. It's not particularly easy to learn, but it is extremely easy to use once you've learned it. I also strongly recommend "The KornShell", by Bolsky & Korn, published by Prentice Hall/AT&T. While ksh is not available on agora, "bash", the Free Software Foundation's merge of csh and ksh features is the command shell of choice, and much of this book is applicable. For Internet information, a good book is the Whole Internet Guide, also published by O'Reilly and Associates. All of these books should be available at Powell's Technical Store downtown (just North of Burnside on Park) and at Tower Books, in the Gateway area.
