PDX-ASB INFO FILE
Updated October 28, 2000
DESCRIPTION
PDX-ASB is an email discussion list for persons interested in the leather/fetish/BDSM/*-sexuality community in and around Portland, Oregon.
HISTORY
PDX-ASB takes its name from "PDX", Portland, Oregon's airport city code, and the Usenet shorthand for alt.sex.bondage. In best memory, the list was originally set up by "Kris Asber", and has been passed on through the years to its present form.
ADMINISTRATION
PDX-ASB is administered using mailman, and is based at rdrop.com.
SUBSCRIBING
For legal reasons, subscription is limited to persons who have attained the age of majority. Requests made from the k12 domains will not be approved.
Persons wishing to subscribe to this list should either visit:
http://www.rdrop.com/mailman/listinfo/pdx-asb
or send a 'help' message to pdx-asb-request@rdrop.com.
The list owner reserves the right to unsubscribe any person for any reason including but not limited to abuse or misuse of the pdx-asb mailing list or its members, the list owner, or the sysadmin.
UNSUBSCRIBING
Persons wishing to unsubscribe from this list should either visit:
http://www.rdrop.com/mailman/listinfo/pdx-asb
or send a 'help' message to pdx-asb-request@rdrop.com.
You should receive a confirmation message, and you might receive a few additional messages for a brief period after this. These are simply messages that were still in transit before your request.
POSTING
Membership (subscription) is a necessary requirement for posting to the list. All posts should be sent (only) to:
pdx-asb@rdrop.com
Please, no cross-posting.
Replies to posts default to sender *only*. You may override this by copying or changing the recipient to pdx-asb@rdrop.com.
Please remember that there can be many technical reasons for delays in propagation of posts, from local maintenance to broken (Internet) backbones. Allow at least 24 hours before reposting or requesting attention from the list administrator.
You are responsible for reading and complying with posts marked ADMIN in the subject line originating for the list administators Spyke or lanark. It is particularly advisable to read these before posting. Your uninterrupted subscription may depend on it.
The list is not moderated for content, though for technical reasons, discussion may be limited to help manage available resources. Here are some guidelines:
- DO post original humour, stories, or anecdotes that you have created/authored/experienced/imagined yourself!
- DO NOT post humorous materials you have found in your inbox, on other lists, on the net, or in your slave's navel--with exceptions made in the latter case if the material is original, topical, and said slave has consented to the post.
- DO carefully edit replies to maintain context and identity to previous posts/replies, without simply appending the whole message. Be succinct.
- DO NOT post one-line replies of "me too" or "hear, hear", particularly when quoting the entire post.
- DO forward administrative requests and questions to pdx-asb-admin@rdrop.com. If you're confused about list policy, this is the place to ask--before you post.
- DO NOT debate administrative policy on list. This ain't no democracy. It exists due to the beneficence of the list administrators and system administrator. Respect them and obey.
- DO engage in discussion of the BDSM topic of your choice.
- DO NOT participate in flame wars, or libelous discussions, no matter the origin.
- DO post event announcements and meeting times for publicly accessible events/organizations.
- DO NOT post communications that are relevant primarily to the internal operations of private organizations.
- DO post requests for BDSM-friendly housemates, or BDSM-related goods or services within the limits of the law.
- DO NOT post items for sale that aren't BDSM related. This isn't a place for your virtual garage-sale/giveaway.
- DO NOT forward posts from the lists to other addresses without the author(s)'s permission, nor post private email to the list.
- DO NOT post copyrighted material without the appropriate permissions AND annotations. Assume any material you did not personally author to be copyrighted. Posters assume responsibility for all materials posted to pdx-asb.
Spamming will not be tolerated, and will result in being removed from the list without warning.
It is also strongly advisable to practice good netiquette. For a well-written primer, check _Netiquette_ by Virginia Shea (http://www.albion.com/netiquette/book/index.html).
OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE NEEDS
