   You are right to fear an idiot with a weapon but we have seen the  
devastation that can be wrought by an idiot with an army.

The far right is much happier with a large underclass who is always  
on the edge of starvation or devastating illness.  A healthy lower  
class would be more more likely to assert their rights and check  
unfettered power. That is a scary thought for many who don't want a  
Hillary or an Obama to bring radical Christian ideas about tending to  
the poor into the mainstream.  The money changers in the temple were  
quite happy with their place in power as they are today.
