SEXUAL MINORITIES IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS: A WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS,
COUNSELORS, ADMINISTRATORS AND PARENTS
This youth-led workshop will explore issues facing lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students in our public schools. It
will be a combination of presentation, discussion, panel, and group
activities designed to give participants the tools to effectively work
with sexual minority students. Practice skills such as how to respond
when LGBT students in your classrooms or hallways are targets of
verbal or physical bullying.
The workshop is based on the Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center’s
“Bridge 13” program. It has been presented by the Washington County
Pride Project at schools and social service agencies throughout
Oregon. It is open to all professionals and students in the education
field or to parents who care about this issue in their children's
schools.
Sponsored by the Pacific University Center for Gender Equity.
