Back from our son's wedding on Oahu. Thanks for all the
suggestions. One son saw the Pearl Harbor museum and tour, and
Hanama Bay was great fun for snorkeling with our granddaughter. We
hiked to the top of the Diamond Head crater, and swam in ocean water
until we were tired, not cold ... tired. We also found a restaurant
that was still going over 30 years after we last were there. Helen's
Hawaiian Foods on School Street, which has some of the best Hawaiian
food and it is 'local'. It is in the hands of the grandson of the
lady running it when we were last there. We also learned of 'shave
ice' with bean or ice cream as a base, and three toppings. The food
was a great adventure including Blackened Ahi at 'Fat Boy' restaurant
in Kailua which was "melt in the mouth" tender. I gained a pound a
day. Oh, did I mention the warm ocean water?
