[Grovenet] Good choice, John!!

Steve:
I might suggest that the ONLY religions we should reject in
office-holders are those religions that implicitly require doing
injury to others... human sacrifice (witch-doctors), infanticide by
neglect (faith-healing), child abuse (child brides, plural marriage)
or violent racism (the various "identity" cults). In short, any overt
"religious" behavior that would subject the believer to criminal
arrest if it were performed in a non-religious setting.
Aside from these, ANY religionist-- the most biased, intolerant,
narrow-minded, ignorant, irrational, book-burning, science-hating,
doctrinarie, shrill and dogmatic fanatic included-- should be free to
seek public office, IF he or she also remains bound by the same
Constitution that protects the rest of us from religious constraints
or articles of belief imposed by the state.
However, when an entire Administration becomes a tacit conspiracy to
falsify science, withhold public information, subvert the law, limit
personal freedom of conscience and indoctrinate our children with the
narrow tenets of one particular religion, then they have violated the
Constitution and must be called to account-- not as "religious
persecution," but as punishment for violating their oaths of office.
Incidentally, shouldn't we also allow professed atheists in public office?
