Wow! I don't envy you. As "flat-landers" living in the Old Town area we
never bothered with studded tires and driving, even on the gentle slopes of
Pacific Avenue near the school, was sometimes a challenge when enough snow
fell to stick on the pavement. But we never saw more than a day or two of
that in the years we lived there.
Talking with some of the old timers around Forest Grove I often heard that
it wasn't terribly unusual for farmers to get out sleighs to go into town
back around WWI. I was told many kept one in the barn for just such
emergencies. They were easier on the snow than cars of the age (for those
who had them!). It sounded to me like they had a lot more snow back then.
The ice here only lasted about half an hour before it was melted by the
rains.
We've now had just over 0.6" of rain over the past 2 hours and it's fairly
warm: 45F right now.
What can be challenging here are the winds, of course, but it's pretty quiet
today with steady winds only about 25 mph and not much in the way of gusts.

Just eyeballing it in the neighborhood, some places
look like an inch, some a couple inches ... Anyone
else in another area of F.G.? It's still coming down.
We're on the western edge of F.G. looking into the
valley and at the Coast Range foothills.
I don't envy the icing over, Ron!
