Hi Kevin,
Someone else (not me) several months ago suggested an EMS Chief to cover both the Fire and Police Chief vacancies. I have no idea if that is possible, but thinking along the lines of saving the City $150K a year makes sense to me if it is. Has this idea been bandied about at all at the City Council level?

As of today there is no job opening yet posted on the City of Forest Grove's website, the Oregon State Employment website, or posted on the very widely distributed fire service email list "The Daily Dispatch" (if you are not a subscriber you'll need to click on Oregon)
That doesn't instill a lot of confidence in me.
Is the City's plate too full to give this the attention it deserves?
It's just one more reason why I ("I" personally) feel that the City needs to get out of the Fire Service. There is far more to managing fire and emergency medical than the City Council and City Manager have time for. They can't be expected to effectively manage fire, police, parks, light and power, water, and the whole slew of other things a city is responsible for.
I'd want something as important as fire and ems managed by a board that could give it it's full attention.
Just my $0.02 worth.
My other $0.98 given on request.
