MAC Computers broke the 8% market share mark for the first time in the
final days of 2007.

"But it was the post-Christmas surge that really put the Mac on the
market share map. "The really good news for Apple came at the end of the
month," said Net Applications in a write-up on its Web site, which noted
that during Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, Mac OS X-powered machines accounted for
8.01% of those monitored online. "This represents a phenomenal increase
of 18% from November for the Mac."

I have been telling my customers for years now - if you really want a
trouble free computer, switch to a Mac or learn a Linux OS. My Ubuntu
Linux machine has been trouble free for going on 3 years now. No
Viruses, No Spyware, no Blue Screens of Death, and without spending a
single penny for any kind of bloated software designed to work with
Microsoft.

While on Vacation this Christmas, my 17yr old niece got a new laptop -
with Vista of course. Her 2 most important priorities (teenager of
course) was Apple iTunes and MSN Instant Messenger. While her laptop
was in really good condition (Acer), it was limited by only having 512M
of RAM (Vista likes LOTS of RAM). However it did perform fairly well.
The Wifi was working well, the speed wasn't too bad, everything was just
humming along until I tried to install these 2 applications for her. I
could not get it to work. Vista errors. Go figure.

I can not count how many people I have spoken to, or stories I have
heard, who absolutely despise Windows Vista. So I say, good for Apple.
Yes, Macs cost more. But they work. Just like Linux. It - just - works.

My other service call this vacation (its hard being a computer guy) was
to another relative whom I built a computer for 3 years ago. Not one
single Antivirus or Spyware application I had given him had been
updated. Not once. The computer was inundated with Viruses and Spyware
- big surprise. And I could not do anything short of trying to back
everything up, wiping his hard drive, and starting over. I was supposed
to bring this PC home with me to work on, but he was so angry that he
might lose everything, I never heard back from him. PC's can get
Viruses. Macs or Linux computers cannot (yet).

Want a computer without the hassle of viruses? Get a Mac.
