Chuck,

I never really saw it as a debate. I only respond when I see things that
need to be pointed out. Every system has its place, its fan, and its use.

Similarly:

People who love their Fords - love their Fords. And will be glad to tell
anyone about it - if they'll listen. Most people don't. Same with the bow
ties - Chevy works for them (and me) - but try to tell that to any of the
random% Chrysler marketshare people - and they think we're nuts.

See, it doesn't matter what we're talking about. Trying to convince someone
against a choice they've made is going to be met with resistance. We all
have our reasons for making the choices we've made and the last thing we
want is to be told we "wrong" for making that choice. When I've had people
complain to me about their Mac, I suggest Windows and they look at me like
I'm nuts.

I *know* you think there's a connection there. There is. It's just not the
connection you think it is. It's unsurprising to me it's a Windows machine
because of the market share Windows holds. However, the fact that it's
there for virus and spyware problems is just a symptom of wanting to drive
the car, but not perform the necessary maintenance.

I didn't say they were incompetent. The most scathing opinion I have is
lazy. More than likely it's a symptom of it-won't-happen-to-me-itis. Then,
when it *does* happen (no matter the OS), they get upset and start blaming
the system when it's their own fault it happened.

Don't for a second think that I'm not guilty of this myself. I *know*
better and I've lost data before. I chose to take responsibility for it
rather than blame it on Windows (which wasn't ever at fault).
