[Grovenet] Cleaning a tub

I had some stains and flaking areas on our big old clawfoot tub.  I didn't want to spend $500 (or more) to get a complete reglazing.  Checking around on the internet I found a site (www.bathwizard.com) that had a repair kit that turned out to be WONDERFUL.  Only thing is the paint applied is incredibly strong in terms of chemical odor.  I closed the bathroom door, opened the window, turned on the exhaust fan, put on a filtering mask and *STILL* was getting light-headed from the fumes in the 15 minutes I applied the product.  But the results are incredibly pleasing.  My tub truly looks like new again.

My favorite "home remedy" for bad stains is baking
soda and what Grandma used to call "elbow grease".  If
that doesn't work, spray some vinegar on it.

Years ago there was an item called, I think, "Lady's
Aid" which is a bar of gritty stone-like stuff for
getting rings off porcelain toilets.  It could
possibly be found at a janitorial supply house or at
Grande Foods.  Mine has lasted so long that I haven't
looked for one for years.. I'd call this a "last
resort".

I've seen ads for a company called "ReBath" which
applies a lining to your tub/shower for a price.
