A Pie Social and Holiday Pie Ordering Event is being hosted by Pies
For Peace on Sunday, November 9th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Forest
Grove United Church of Christ, 2032 College Way. Five dollars buys
four sample-size slices of pie to help you make an informed decision
about which pies to order for the holidays. Tea and coffee will also
be served.

Pies sell by the slice or whole (baked or frozen). The Pie Social
gives people the chance to taste test pies to order for entertaining
or gifts.

The “Pie Mamas and Papas” began making pies at the start of the war in
Iraq. Since 2002, Pies for Peace has donated over $18,000 in proceeds
to Mercy Corps International, a humanitarian relief organization based
in Portland.

In 2006, Pies for Peace was honored with an ETown Award. Pie Mamas
Lark Brandt and Carol Woodford were interviewed by National Public
Radio which brought in donations from as far away as Colorado.

The pie social is open to the public. Pies for Peace is an independent
organization and is not affiliated with the Forest Grove United Church
of Christ.
