Therefore, he was born the furthest West and the furthest South of  
any American president.

There is a lot of press about how significant it is to have an  
African-American president.  Great and good.

His novelty as an African-American may have gotten him a shot at the  
Primary campaign and lots of press coverage.  I know that it got my  
attention as well.

But it didn't get my vote.  Instead, I voted for the individual who,  
in my opinion, was best qualified to lead my country for the next  
four years.  And for the first time in my life, I voted for someone  
who actually won the Presidency.

As he has indicated, the easy part is over, the hard part is just  
beginning.  He has to create his administrative council and  
transition into office.  I don't care if the best person for some  
place on his cabinet is Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice, Joe  
Liberman or John McCain. I want him to choose the best person for a  
position without regard for non-essential features like height,  
weight, dental structure or shoe size.

I trust him to do as well in the next four years, as his campaign has  
done in the past two years.
