I try not to watch much of Fox "News", but one of their correspondents, who was assigned to the McCain campaign, in an interview with Shephard Smith broadcast yesterday, revealed that Sarah Palin had to have it explained to her that Africa is a continent, not a country. Perhaps the problem was that she couldn't see it from her front porch. Or she hadn't somehow bumped into this little detail in one of the six colleges she visited before graduating (somehow?) from the U. of Idaho. So, one can imagine how a world traveler like Sen. McCain must have reacted upon learning of this teeny-weeny gap in her "knowledge." No wonder she was kept under wraps by his campaign...
Frankly, we need more of this kind of leadership and demonstration of a command of international facts from highly visible R politicians. I fondly hope that Gov. Palin will continue to play a dramatic role in this party for quite a few years to come. It will surely help the country continue to make good decisions.
