Mike, funny you should ask . . ." Rose Atoll, American Sāmoa (14°34′11″S 168°9′10″W / -14.56972, -168.15278) — southernmost point in all of US territory "
moose and wolf statistics . . . Alaska has the two animals in abundance? :-)

I wonder where American Samoa fits into this scenario. I don't have a GPS system...Allen, what does your source say?
I did hear yesterday a neat factoid about Alaska yesterday...one of its congressional districts is as large as Texas...and has a population of 10,000. I didn't hear about the moose or wolf statistics.

Being an engineer, and thus learning over the years that data is king, my interest was piqued. So . . . I checked Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_points_of_the_United_States) and found that while Hawaii can lay claim to having the southernmost point in the 50 states, Alaska is deemed to have the westernmost point in the 50 states "by direction of travel, and last sunset (at equinox) in all of US territory".
