Civil disobedience has a personal cost, and
these protesters knew
that and took the challenge. They paid their
share of the cost of
their illegal actions. That is to be expected.
The actions of the police, as described, was
also illegal. As a
civilized nation we can allow the protester to
accept and pay for
their actions. We can also require the public
employees of Nassau
County to accept and pay for their actions.
No one should be above the law, and no one
should be beneath the law.
