It¹s always fun to do some number-looking.
The population of Portland/Vancouver (but no other bordering towns) is about
40,000 fewer than the number of those living in the entire State of Alaska.
Juneau, Alaska¹s capitol, is bigger than Oregon City...but smaller than Lake
Oswego.
According to 2006 figures:
Madras is 5,078.
Sandy is 5,385.
Wasilla, Alaska¹s population is 5,500, where Sarah Palin was the mayor...
Talent is 5,589.
Molalla is 5,647.
Seaside is 5,900.
It would seem that just as much experience in governing has been gained by
mayors of Portland...
Perhaps Ms. Katz would be interested in the nod, she being female and all,
and she spent more than 2 years in the job too.
It does not seem to me that they can brag on her great experience
background.
Not counting Chicago and Cook County, three of the four collar areas of
Illinois DuPage, Lake, and Kane.Plus.Kendall Counties each have more
residents than the state of Alaska. (928K, 704K, 677K, for those
interested.) The fourth county, Will, is not far behind with 658K.) The good
news is that the Governor of Illinois was not considered for the post of VP.
