Mike,
I'm not registered in any party yet I believe it's entirely possible Democrats can be in Group #1. Remember John Kerry's wife? She can probably easily afford the same ensemble as Cindy McCain. And what about John Edwards reported $400.00+ haircuts? And don't the Clinton's have a tidy sum of wealth?
The folks on the stages of either convention can probably afford Cindy McCain's ensemble. It's the folks like you and me (making an assumption here) that can't.

Grovenuts...this has been a stimulating discussion on the election.
Thanks to one and all. The country is faced with some big decisions.
Many people find the discussion confusing, daunting. It causes
headaches for them. So, perhaps we need a simpler way of sorting things
out for the voters. So, here's my suggestion to help the American
electorate:
Using Cindy McCain's gorgeous Monday night outfit...probably pieced
together from each of the McCains' seven homes...a tough job, that...we
can divide the electorate into two groups...
[1] Those who can afford her ensemble...
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000-$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100
[2] Those who cannot.
The [1] group votes for the R ticket. They deserve each other.
The [2] group votes for the D ticket. They'll get along just fine.
