[Grovenet] Just trying to help out

Hi Allen...my point precisely...and how do the numbers shake out? That
is, my "modest proposal" is to let populism, representing the vast
majority of Americans in terms of income scale, "vote" on this basis. I
could probably come up with $300K...but to use it on a dress would
basically ruin us. We'll need it for the cancer treatments that our
current health plan won't cover anyway (someone has said we don't have
health plans in this country...we have illness plans).
Anyway...is it possible for the "little people" to vote in their own
best interests? British historian E.P. Thompson was constantly amazed
by the consistency with which the early trade unions in the UK
(1820-1860) would come perilously close to fully realizing their own
best interests and acting upon that realization...but would consistently
back off, making decisions that favored the elites who ran their
industries.
So...millions of bottles of Budweiser paid for her ensemble. The people
who drank that beer did so to lighten their days, gain a brief respite
from their worries, relax a little, watch TV, or just go blotto.
Amnesia is a kind of a response to a social and economic crisis. Beer
helps.
Anyway...thanks for getting back. Have a nice day...great time of year
in Oregon...
