I agree with you very much, David, and find these issues
heartbreaking.

And what you said here is constantly on my mind: "Finally,
it is no victory for our children, reared in an America of
such divisive loathing, enormous debt, and tarnished  
standing."  That disgusts me every day - We have four
adult children (ages 23 to almost-31), plus grandchildren ...
and this is how America has been for most (or all) of their
lives?!!

Gotta change.
