One way to make homemade nectar is 1 part sugar dissolved into 4 parts water. You can add a tiny bit of red food coloring if you want.
Both the Anna's (green) and the Rufous (brown) are always around, but we also notice other non-Oregon natives ... passing through, I guess! It's interesting to look them up and see where they may have come from; sometimes the differences are pretty miniscule.
