I don't know what to say, but our hummies have no problem finding the clear liquid, though it is in a feeder which is bright red with yellow "flowers" around the openings!

John, I've read that, too (many times!), but at my house, they sure do prefer it. At least that's what I've learned from experience, by trying it with no coloring in it. I make 3 cups of liquid at a time, and it only takes a drop or two in that to make the water pink enough for them to notice.
