[Grovenet] Your favorite email?

Personally, I think gmail (google email) rules.  If you don't have a google account, you're not 21st Century.  In addition to the email (which has a top flight spam filter), you will also have access to a number of excellent google tools (Documents, Calendar, lots more).

Some people are "anti-google" because they argue that google saves everything (which is pretty much true) and shares everything with advertisers (which pretty much *isn't* true).  Always check your account preferences no matter what sort of email provider you use.  If you use Yahoo Mail (which I'm using right now), their preferences *default to sharing everything with everybody*!  You have to go to account preferences and turn them off.  I went one step further and gave my contact phone number as Yahoo headquarters.

So... my recommendation is for you to really set up two email accounts... one at Yahoo and one at Google.  Use the Yahoo account as your "spam" account.  That means that any time you register for anything online or are asked for your email address, you can give that one.  That will keep your Google gmail account fairly clean.

And yeah... AOL sux!

Regards,

Jeff Cooper

Hi, Folks,

I'm tired of AOL.  Any recommendations on email providers that you like?
