As the resident cynic, I think the coupons are to transfer funds to
the Chinese for making the devices that cost just a few dollars to
make and a few dollars to ship over seas.
We got on this topic because the question was posed, why does it need
to be postponed at this time. Now that we know it has been put off
for at least 2 years and the exact timing protects the superbowl
broadcast, I'm wondering if there are other theories out there about
why it has been proposed that we postpone it again.
And I agree that there will be a percent of the people who won't be
prepared for this whenever it comes. Sort of like elections. Voter
participation last November was just under 60%. If 40% of eligible
folks didn't turn out to vote why should we be surprised if folks
aren't ready for a technology change.
