Plus, we just can't please everyone.

Many in the rest of the world are optimistic, too, as
we are ... but on the other hand, many aren't waiting
in order to make up their minds:

The optimist in me says that it did.
The pessimist in me says that if it did, it will be fairly short lived.
It will only last until the next bomb is dropped in Pakistan,  
Afghanistan, Iraq, or Gaza. While he is different than Bush, the  
changes that will show the rest of the world how different he is will  
take time to show up in the practices on the ground.
