If we update the story -- as I hope we will, we'll try to clarify some of
these questions.  In the meantime, I know that Dave would welcome a
follow-up question. He's a public servant and understands that it's part of

I have no intention of calling him; I just pointed out he was "waffling" as
a play on his name.  It does seem to me though that since this is a
newsworthy item that either you or someone on your paper might want to
