For some, perhaps.  Many are there by choice because in their mind it frees
them from the constraints of society.  All the free handouts from those that
mean well just make that sort of avoidance doable rather than dubious.

I respectfully disagree.  Each person is individually responsible for their
own destiny.  Someone else's life is not my responsibility.  I already have
enough to concern myself with just keeping my own on track.  I'm most
definitely not going to take on an shame for someone else not making better
for themselves.
