We are very fortunate in FG to have this program.
Sales of the Viking Houses basically fund the woodshop program, which
many other schools are cutting.
If these houses don't get sold we are in danger of losing this
valuable program.
While it might be nice if everyone could go to college -- and schools
have definitely become focused that direction -- it is unrealistic to
think that college is for everyone. These vocational programs are
critical -- not only to those considering a career in these areas. For
those who do go on to higher ed, they provide a better-rounded
education and useful life skills.
When we first bought our house here in FG, I immediately signed my
husband up for the woodshop class that is housed in the FGHS shop. 14
years later he is still enjoying it and we have a house full of
handcrafted heirloom furniture.
This class is open to the public and runs from 6:30 - 9:30 pm on
Monday evenings through the school year. Works out to less than $15
per evening.
Let's spread the word and get these homes sold!
