A number of reliable industry sources have confirmed to me that battery
maker A123Systems <http://www.a123systems.com/html/home.html> has quietly
acquired Concord, Ontario-based Hymotion <http://www.hymotion.com/>, which
is one of the leading experts on retrofitting hybrid-electric cars into
plug-in models. It makes complete sense. The two companies are already
working together to supply plug-in hybrids to fleets in
California<http://www.hymotion.com/pdf/AQMDPressRelease.pdf>and New
York<http://www.hymotion.com/pdf/Hymotion_A123_NYSERDA%20Press%20Release.pdf>.
Given that A123 will need to bolster its integration skills as part of work
its doing with General
Motors<http://www.a123systems.com/html/news/articles/010407_GM.html>,
having the team at Hymotion on board will be a major benefit.
