Saturday, Aug 11, we will hold our annual EV awareness day at Pioneer
Courthouse Square from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
We can begin setting up at 8:00 am, and need to vacate it by 6 pm.
There is a bit of construction in the area, but the square is still
accessible. As usual due to the abundance of one-way streets and the
6th street bus mall, one needs to head East on Yamhill (with the MAX
tracks), make a left (going North) on 6th street after passing the
square. The left lane on 6th street is still open--make a left onto the
east side of the square to enter.
Eric Johnson, Brad Hippert, or I (Gary Graunke) will be on site at all
times, as well as a "stage hand" to assist with any problems.
We will have vehicle permits for each vehicle on the square. This
actually cost $ now, so we will be keeping count of how many vehicles we
have.
Those bringing trailers should email Brad Hippert (brad dot hippert at
Porteon dot net) so we know how many to expect (and so you can get a
ride back to the square). Trailer parking at Porteon is at 625 NW 17th
Avenue (cross street Irving) in Portland. If you are from out-of-town,
we'll buy dinner afterwards!
We will have 6 20A 110V charging locations along the North wall. We can
swap vehicles (with care due to the crowd) as needed to provide
charging.
This year the group passed a resolution in February that all vehicles
must be electric (that is, they must be plug-in vehicles that use
electricity to run). This excludes non-plug in hybrids, but true dual
fuel plug-in hybrids (PHEV) are most welcome.
Also, we are renting the square as a non-profit organization. So
commercial vendors should not take orders, but can provide information
and show EV's as members of OEVA.
One final note: there is a 40X40 Red Bull setup on the corner that we
have rented, so they have given us the entire rest of the square to use.
This should give us a bit more space (and I hope we need it) and more
than compensate for the loss of the corner area.
See you Saturday!
Gary
