Ford will collaborate with Smith Electric Vehicles of the UK. Ford is
supplying Smith with trucks and vans to be battery-electrified for the
European and North American market. Ford's upcoming fleet targeted "Transit
Connect" mini-van will be offered in an all electric version by Smith as the
"Ampere" in 2009.

Smith will also get coasters of several F series Fords. The Smith Faraday
Mark II will be based on the F650.

Ampere:
top speed of 70 MPH
range 100+ miles
50 kW motor

Faraday Mark II:
Specs unknown, likely similar to the Ampere.
Expected 2nd half 2008 (yeah, right)

The article also has an interesting take on how big-oil and big-auto are not
getting along like they used to.
