Hi All,

Does anyone have experience with battery heaters in cold climates
that could offer any advice to Jim in Ohio?

Cheers,

feedback:
   Hi Tim:

I own a 2007 Zenn ev and live in Ohio - which, like your area, has
cold winters. The Zenn is a 72 volt EV with six 12 volt AGM batteries
and a 5 HP DC motor.

Would you, or any of the members of your group, have experience in
providing a way to keep the batteries warm during cold days? As you
know, cold greatly reduces the range of an EV, especially one that
uses lead acid batteries. My range has been as low as 8 miles on 20
degree days, while summer range is beyond 25 miles.

I am aware of electric battery warmers that wrap around batteries
and plug into a 110 volt household outlet. I also know about using
insulation around the batteries. However, suggestions from someone
who has actually installed a battery warmer system would be very
helpful.

   Thank you.
