[Oeva-list] Tuffer times for EV's and alternative energy.

It is all about the money.  They will only build what they can sell.  EZ-Go would sell hwy EV's if they sold like Cessna's and Bell Helicopters.  In my opinion 90% of all Americans are motivated  to change if it effects there wallet in a positive nature.  Sure if kids are choking on pollution that is motivation for change but short of that it is money.  The government gives incentives but it is not enough.  What really kills the EV is inexpensive gas.  Main stream Americans will look harder at EV's when gas is high.  Now with the down economy and low gas prices main stream people have much less reason to consider EV's as a mode of transportation.

What might work is to put a floor on gas prices.  Use the funds between the floor and the real price of gas to fund olny green projects like EV's , solar panels, electricity infrastructure and so on.  Oil needs to become less attractive to mainstream people.  If something like this were implemented now, we could get a leg up on things. When it becomes apparent to the mainstream population via exsorbdent gas prices that they need EV's massed produced, we would not be so far behind.

As it is now, we have these peaks and lows of both funding and awareness for EV's and alternative energy that ebb and flow with the price and or demand of fossil fuels.

Oh yea thanks for the info.  I wrote the Senator.    Ray.

Rather than a bail out ICE producers, should our legislators spur on Tesla's sedans or other electric production in Oregon too? What if we were building American Electric cars good enough to export to world? Seems like we should write our increasingly green lawmakers and suggest that they support green automobile production in Oregon.. The pen is mightier than the sword. I did not see that Jeff Merkley has his official contact through the Senatorial website yet, nor does his campaign website have a good contact option. Mekley campaigned as supporting environmentally friendly options and job creation. I believe Senator Wyden's contact info is below:

It would be great if EZ-go started making vehicles for civilian usage too. They ought to have the know how since they own EZ-Go, Cessna and Bell Helicopters. They also just bought Lancair aircraft in Bend Oregon.
