A nanotech discovery by researchers from the University of Texas could
potential double the capacity of existing ultracapacitors, a rechargable
energy storage device similar to a battery.

The nano-structure is called Graphene and its potential uses include
electric vehicles and storage of wind and solar electricity. One of the
drawbacks of wind and solar photovoltaic is the moment to moment
unpredictability. On-site energy storage would aleviate this
unpredictability and make these renewables more utility use friendly.
