Yes, it's true! If you kicked yourself for missing the chance when this
beauty came on the market about two months ago, you have another chance!
Why? Because I am buying another red electric RX-7 that is already
working! And my wife says I can't have two!

Here's the scoop:

This is a 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL (not SE) converted in the late '90s to
electric. Apparently professionally converted. Original owner now has
age-related dementia, and so cannot provide more information. The story I
have from her son: it ran great for a while (2 years?) and then they had "a
problem with the controller" that they could not resolve. So, in 2001, it
was parked in a garage and never moved again ... until this past June when I
bought it.

What it has:
* Beautiful exterior and interior ... far better than my '06 Honda Civic
Si!
* 24 buddy pairs of Optima Yellow Top 55ah batteries, plus another one as
the aux battery (all of these are dead)
* Older charger, with "Rudman Regulators" ... the aux battery is charged as
well, I think.
* Auburn Scientific controller (assumed to be dead)
* ADC FB-4001 motor
* Appears to be stock transmission, no clutch
* Some kind of instrumentation
* Emergency-off cabled to "Choke" (!)
* Power brakes
* 12V accessories appear to work: lights, windows, radio antenna, wiper,
etc. No guarantee, though, you'll have to check it out yourself.
* Excellent mechanical battery-mounts
* Excellent wiring
* Charge connection behind the old fuel door -- but the cable release for
the door is sticky (sorrreee!)
* "AM/FM Cassette Stereo with Graphic Equalizer" ... and a few cassettes!

As far as I know, all it needs is new batteries and a new controller. But I
*don't really know* ... that's why it's so cheap. Car is being sold "as is"
with no guarantees or representations. You should verify all the above if
you care.

(Ignore the pictures of me and of the previous owner's son.)

Asking merely what I paid for it:

$2500
