FYI, AeroVironment has made all of the requisite software updates to existing AV chargers that are part of the West Coast Electric Highway network in Oregon. All future chargers that will be installed will already be up to date to communicate with 2013 Nissan Leafs.

Best,

Ashley

All,

On July 9th (a Tuesday) my publication, the Port of Cascade Locks, and
the Gorge Owned Business Network are hosting Green Drinks in Cascade Locks.

The new owners of the Charburger will have hors d'oeuvres and Full Sail
will have beer. We are working on having wine and juice also

The topic for the evening is: "The EV Revolution and What It Means to
Businesses in the Gorge"

Ashley Horvat with ODOT will give a presentation on EV Tourism and
OEVA's Pat Conner will talk about the Electric Highway.

But the main attraction will be the EVs, so we are hoping that some of
you will come on out with your Leaf, Volt, Tesla, Think, C-max Energi,
iMIEV, Brammo, Zero, Zenn, Zap, conversion, e-bike or whatever. If its
got an electric motor, a battery and a plug, come on out and show it off.

There are a dozen 240/50amp RV stations with 14-50 receptacles available
if you have an adapter such as the "John Day or Bust" caravan uses.

There is an Aerovironment DC Fast charger about 1/4 mile from the event
site, so we can shuttle some vehicles to it.

Marine Park Pavilion - 6:30 to 8:00 PM +

On Thursday, June 13, at 1 PM, Governor Kitzhaber will be joined by representatives from PGE, Nissan North American and IBEW to dedicate a new Nissan DC Quick Charging Station and two Blink Level 2 EV charging stations at the State Street entrance of the Oregon State Capitol building in Salem. The site is officially part of the Oregon Electric Highway due to its proximity to U.S. Highway 99 and Oregon Highway 22 and their nearby connections with Interstate 5. The quick charging station was donated by Nissan, with installation donated by IBEW Salem Local 280.

Please come and show your support for additional EV charging in Oregon!

Thanks,
Rick Durst

I was chatting with someone at the Salem Blink DCQC and she said that her 2013 Leaf didn't work with the AV quick chargers. She said there was some sort of SW change that AV needed to do that hasn't made it's way out here yet. Has anyone else had this issue? I can't imagine what Nissan would change in the charging protocol that would trip up AV. I don't find anything on the Google.

I have a 2011 Leaf and I have used the Aero Environment DCQC chargers in
Cascade Locks and Hood River several times - never had a problem. They were
always functional and they always charged flawlessly. It may have more to
do with the initial account setup than the charger or the car.

I also used to use the Wood Village Blink DCQC charger at the WallMart - it
was only available about half of the 20 times I have tried to use it.
Usually it was just down, but sometimes it was unable to start the charge
process. And, the Blink phone support folks were unaware of the problems
and, did not have an accurate date for getting the system functional again.
Since then Blink's national support manager was out to speak to the Oregon
Electric Vehicles Association monthly meeting and he pledged that service
and up-time will be better. We still hear of the occasional problem with
the Blink DCQC systems, but the problems seem less frequent. However, I
haven't tried them since they started charging for their use.

Regards,
John

In case Steve is on this list, or anyone knows him - would like to ask for
a bit more details about Leaf experience. Appreciate any pointers!
