Report from Salem

As the legislative session in Salem winds down, there are several
achievements to celebrate! Two bills supporting the expansion of
Oregon's electric vehicle industry are heading to the Governor's desk
to be signed into law. House Bill 3301, sponsored by Representative
Phil Barnhart, ensures that residents of condominiums and homeowner
associations can charge -
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?DriveOregon/5657732f9d/8c378d6fc8/baf6938ec5 their electric vehicles without extra hassle or cost. From the
Senate side, Senate Bill 536 allows charging stations to be installed
by state agencies -
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?DriveOregon/5657732f9d/8c378d6fc8/8ab9ab60a3 and managed by third-party contractors at no cost to the taxpayer.

Adding to these legislative successes, three new electric vehicle
charging stations -- including the nation's second Nissan DC Quick
Charger -- were unveiled -
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?DriveOregon/5657732f9d/8c378d6fc8/00553009c0 at the Oregon State Capitol last week. At the opening ceremony,
Governor Kitzhaber declared, "By setting up these chargers in Salem,
we are giving an economical and energy-efficient option to all the
people who come visit our state Capitol."

New "eGallon" Tool Demonstrates Cost-Savings of Electric Vehicles in

Curious how much you would save by switching to electric? The
Department of Energy announced a new tool -
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?DriveOregon/5657732f9d/8c378d6fc8/25c745b06d last week that helps consumers understand the true costs of electric
vehicles. The eGallon compares both electric charge costs in
different states and the price of driving EVs as compared to paying
for gas. In Oregon, electric vehicle owners pay nearly 33 percent
less for driving their EVs -
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?DriveOregon/5657732f9d/8c378d6fc8/04039eec91 than owners in other states -- Oregon's eGallon price is 96 cents,
compared to $1.14 nationwide. To give eGallon a try, visit
