exhibition, auction, and concerts

Exhibition and auction featuring more than 50 regionally and nationally 
recognized visual artists (see list below), and students from Pacific 
Northwest College of Art's Youth Programs. Using "unplayable" violins, 
violas, cellos, and other musical supplies, they have created 
imaginative, whimsical, and beautiful pieces inspired by music. The 
works will be auctioned to benefit the Community Music Center (CMC), 
celebrating its 50th anniversary.

All works on display now in the PNCA Swigert Commons, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm 
daily through Saturday Feb. 18.

Grand Finale Auction
Saturday, February 18, 6:00 PM
Admission: $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
Admission includes bidder's paddle, food (no-host bar), and entertainment.

As part of the show, hybrid instrument maker and performer Ken Butler 
offers master classes, a kids' concert, and his own Quartet in recital 
February 15-18. Mr. Butler's art has been displayed in numerous 
exhibitions and performances throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe, 
including The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, The Metropolitan Museum of 
Art in New York City as well as in South America, Thailand, and Japan. 
His works have been featured on PBS, CNN, MTV, and NBC, including a live 
appearance on The Tonight Show. Awards include fellowships from the 
Oregon Arts Commission, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the

The Grand Finale Auction on February 18 includes the conclusion of the 
silent auction, a live auction, great food, no host bar, and special 
performances by professionals & rising-star violinist Becky Anderson. A 
CMC alumna, Ms. Anderson was named Chamber Music Northwest Fellow for 
the 2005-2006 season. She has won numerous competitions, including the 
MetroArts Young Artist Concerto Competition in both 2003 and 2005, and 
she has appeared as soloist with the Oregon Symphony. Becky is a 
sophomore at Lincoln High School.
