Terry Riley will give a concert of evening ragas in the Kirana style as 
taught to him by India's master vocalist, Pandit Pran Nath.

One of India's greatest classical vocalists, Pandit Pran Nath 
(1918-1996), was mentor and teacher of Terry Riley for 26 years. Pandit 
Pran Nath introduced the tradition of Hindustani classical vocal music 
to America when he arrived here in 1970. Riley, now 71 years old (or 
young) -- is a virtuoso keyboard performer and composer of 
extraordinary note -- has been coming to Portland annually for the past 
decade to teach and present recitals of North Indian Classical Vocal 
music in the Kirana style as taught to him by Pandit Pran Nath. This 
concert marks Riley's decade of service to his Guru, to students and 
music lovers in Portland.


Terry Riley will also give a three-evening raga singing class:

Tuition $150; payment due at the first class. (Single class $50)
(Please make checks payable to Terry Riley).

Note: Full class tuition includes admission to the Concert on July 22nd.

Private lessons with Mr. Riley are also available. Please inquire about 
availability and fees.
