Portland State University's MFA Program in Creative Writing, together
with Yale Union, will host a reading and a talk by Rae Armantrout.

Professor of Poetry and Poetics at the University of California, San
Diego, and the author of numerous books of poetry, Armantrout began her
career associated with Language writing, the highly visible avant-garde
movement of the 1970s that conscientiously avoided linguistic
transparency, and she contributed to the "experiment in collective
autobiography" /The Grand Piano/, which chronicled the Bay Area
incarnation of Language poetry. Nevertheless, Armantrout's work has
attracted admirers across aesthetic divides for its captivating blend of
enigma and precision; her 2009 volume /Versed/ won both the Pulitzer
Prize and National Book Critic's Circle awards.
