The paper bark maple is be- coming more widespread now that seed germination has been mastered. Nevertheless, it is certainly still one of the finest and most desirable small garden trees.  Outstanding bark, attractive foliage in both spring and fall.  Spring foliage can look a little like, well, poison oak.  However, it's safe to touch!  Fall color is a bright red.  In addition to its outstanding ornamental qualities, this maple is tough.  Not particular about soil, drought tolerant, and making an outstanding bonsai.
