rrn An elegant name for this elegant japanese maple.  First certain records are from Japan in 1938 but Butterfly probably developed prior to this. Leaves vary from entirely pale green, through creamy-yellow edged, to fully cream-white.  Pinkish tinges are often found on the new spring growth as illustrated.  Grows at a moderate rate to about 20'. Full sun or partial shade is fine. Excellent for containers.  Good companion plant in a border. Zones: USDA 6; Sunset 2-10, 12, 14-24, Alaska-3.
