Our only American native striped-bark maple, the Moosewood has attractive bark, elegant leaves and wonderful fall color.  An understory tree in its native forests of the eastern US, Moosewood does well in partial shade, or even under conifers such as pine or fir so long as the shade is not too dense.  A small tree 15-20', Zones 3-7.
