This Japanese Red Pine variety 'Aurea' lives up to its name. The long, graceful needles turn bright golden in winter, and remain pale gold through the summer. Even the cones are gold. Medium growth rate of 0.5-1.5' per year. These are grafted onto scotch pine. You can prune out all the central candles at the base to restrict growth and make more compact at any time. Candle pruning in spring works also.  Could make a nice bonsai, once the needles became dwarfed.   To 20-25' or more if unpruned, Zones 3-7.
