This relative of the true larches is of more restrained and symmetric
growth when young. It starts living up to its name in late summer,
especially if the weather is hot and dry. Holds its golden color longer
in the fall than any of the true larches. This tree can eventually
get to 50' or more, but is much slower growing than the true larches. Easy
to prune to any desired size. Appears to grow very well in a pot. Might make
a nice bonsai. although rarely seen as such. Zones 4-7.
