Bald cypress is the famous 'Swamp Cypress' of the SE United States. This famous denizen of the Okeefenokee Swamp (center photo) is one of the few trees that can grow in permanent standing water. Nevertheless, bald cypress grows just fine on completely dry ground. This deciduous conifer seems to have an even much more pleasing and graceful shape than it's more romantic cousin the Dawn Redwood.  After turning a gentle ochre fall color, the needles drop for the winter.  Excellent for pot growth or bonsai. This is an exceptionally easy tree to grow under any conditions. Watering is not a problem for a potted bald cypress  Just submerge the plant in a tray of water for the summer. This is perhaps the easiest potted tree to care for.   Slow growing to 60', Zones 4-9
