N.B.: The references in the following memo, which was presented at the 10 August 1998 council meeting, are to the revised draft of the Commercial Design Review ordinance.

Suggestions:
1. Exterior changes listed in 9.960 should be limited to "exterior changes which are visible from the adjacent streets."
2. Eliminate point system. Adopt planning commission proposal.
3. Change 2000 square feet in 9.960(5) to 4000 square feet except for CBD zone which should be smaller.
4. 9.961 (j), add "mechanical equipment located on rooftops should be screened from view when they are visible from adjacent streets. Screening should be of a similar material as the main building and screening colors should complement the building color."
5. 9.964 (o) is not good practice. Plumbing vents convey odiferous gases which should be located away from intakes for air conditioning units, etc.
