The K100RS
This is my daily rider, a 1985 K100RS. Previously
owned by two different California Highway Patrol officers. This bike
is almost completely stock. I added a 12V accessory outlet, and it
was originally set up with higher bars off of a straight K100. I've
gone back and forth on returning the bike to the lower RS bars, but as
yet I haven't been sufficiently inspired to do anything about it. The bike
also wears stainless steel brake lines, which gives the front brake a very
"immediate" feel.
The bike runs phenominally
well, starting first try, no matter how long it's been sitting outside
in the cold, wet air. In my opinion, there were very few things that
were done exceptionally well in the '80's, and BMW's K-bikes were a shining
example of something great from that time.
